LOCAL ISSUES, Northern Tokharistan. Uncertain ruler, 7th-8th century. Drachm (Silver, 26 mm, 2.73 g). Crowned and draped Sasanian-style bust to right, resembling Khosrau I; in the margin, three(?) countermarks depicting male heads to right and one countermark with the legend ‘σαÞρο χοαδηο’ (‘Sashro-Xwadēw’ or ‘Lord Sashro’ in Bactrian). Rev. Fire altar with ribbons, flanked by two attendants; illegible legends. Rtveladze 45. Nicely toned. Areas of weakness, otherwise, good fine.
